Bright & Airy Boho Cake Smash at Bull Creek District Park in Austin, Texas

And then some photographs take your breath away…

This is one of my favorite cake smashes I have ever photographed. The mama envisioned a girly-girl cake smash session with a fairly neutral color palette for her babe. We created the look with a super sweet cream-colored fringe teepee (complete with felt floral topper) and coordinating Moroccan wedding blanket and chose a simple cake with an ivory icing and a vibrant flower on top for a pop of color! We chose an outdoor location with a lot of greenery and lucked out with fresh purple blooms on the Texas Laurel Trees. Baby girl wore a peachy-pink dress and hand-crafted floral crown. The combination of it all was perfect in every way.

For those of you who haven’t heard of a cake smash, it’s the new ‘smash’ trend taking one-year-old milestone photo sessions by storm. The smash cake is usually a small cake made for the baby to do whatever they want with! The idea behind the smash cake is to ceremoniously give your baby their first real taste of a sugary treat. Surprisingly, not all babies go after the cake. Others dig right in! The reactions and faces are absolutely priceless.
