For Love of the Gift: Asher Sage

It has become evident to me how fortunate and blessed I am to have found success in my business of photography, the single art I am most passionate about.

“Always remember to fall asleep with a dream and wake up with a purpose.”

For all my life, I have felt the drive to create. Photography allows me do that in a perfectly authentic way. There is no question, I have been given a gift. And while I am so humbled that this gift allows me to contribute financially to my family, it wouldn’t truly be a gift if I couldn’t find a special opportunity to give it away.

I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to begin a new personal series: For Love of the Gift. The idea is to find a few folks throughout the year who have dealt with some sort of challenge or truly fought through a struggle and offer them something special that they will cherish forever. Everyone needs a break sometime. Speaking from personal experience, after you’ve pushed through the dark and begin to find the light, any amount of kindness from a stranger truly replenishes your soul and inspires you to keep going!

Over the past year, I have followed the journey of Amanda, a friend of a friend via Facebook. She has courageously shared her struggle with Hypermesis Gravidarum, a condition of pregnancy that is characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss and dehydration (learn more about her journey here). Although we had never met, I was so moved by her relentless spirit and unwavering love for the baby growing inside of her. Despite this awful condition, Asher Sage was born perfectly healthy, which is a miracle. When she posted about his arrival Earth-side, I reached out to see if she would allow me to capture some precious moments of her with her new addition. She was so excited and we set a date.

I spent this morning photographing and getting to know a beautiful soul and her precious boys. It is truly divine the way the Universe connects us with the right people at just the right time. This photo session was about more than pictures and I know our time together and the moments we captured are as special to her as they are to me.

Amanda, from my heart to yours…
