When Tracy reached out to let me know that Shawn had received a terminal diagnosis and she wanted to capture photographs of their son, Eli with his father, my heart broke for them. I cannot imagine going through such a challenging experience. I did, however, feel so grateful that she chose me to capture these precious moments between them.

The day was perfect. I chose a location, McKinney Falls, that turned out to be a long-time family favorite. Eli’s firecracker hair was glowing in the sunset. The weather was perfectly warm. Their hearts were full.

The experience for me was most certainly a blessing and a reminder that every day is a gift. Slow down. Hug your people a little tighter and love them a little harder. Perspective is everything.
